Conferences

St Mary’s has been at the fore front of bringing young people together for conferences and particularly around gun-crime and gangs and giving young people a voice. We have run the performing arts for Islington Summer University for 4 years.

St Mary’s Youth Club (Islington) has a real passion to see young people achieve their potential and move on to positive things. We address many of social issues through our events and conferences and intend to continue impacting on our community.

“Young people often get bad publicity but we we’ve found here at St Mary’s that given the right structure, guidance and encouragement, they can make their own positive creative force and bring a lot of joy to people.”

Our conference are often run by young people for young people. Natalie Suliman ran her first anti-GUN CRIME CONFERENCE when she was 17 and it was covered by ITN News. Since, she has been employed by Listen Up to train a panel of young people to assess the Youth Opportunity Grants and to help organize youth conferences like Our Time at the Emirates Statium with St Mary’s young people. Under the leadership of Dean the program to understand the pressures on young people growing up in Islington.
